Part 2

•        These are literal wings... 2 sets of them apparently.

•        The sound of their wings were heard a good distance away... they were mighty like the voice of the Lord.

By the way, here is another epiphany of what many people think is the Word of God clothed in linen... many think that this person that keeps showing up in Ezekiel’s visions is the pre-incarnate Jesus.

Ezekiel 10:7-8 (NAS) " Then the cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire which was between the cherubim, took some and put it into the hands of the one clothed in linen, who took it and went out.
8 And the cherubim appeared to have the form of a man's hand under their wings."

•        The cherubim have a hand under their wings... it is as if there is a hand blended with their wings.

The fire was between each of the cherubim. They took the fire and gives it to the one clothed in linen.

•        The form of the hand of the cherub was like a human hand. That’s interesting.

Ezekiel 10:9-11 (NAS) " 9 Then I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like the gleam of a Tarshish stone. 10 And as for their appearance, all four of them had the same likeness, as if one wheel were within another wheel. 11 When they moved, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went; but they followed in the direction which they faced, without turning as they went."

•        Each cherub had a wheel or flying disc. These discs were turning... each beside the cherub.

The flying disc had a gleam or shine like a tarshish stone (beryl stone in the KJV) - thought to be a yellow colored stone color... the discs had a yellow crystal color.

The wheel was like in another wheel and turning. No wonder that UFO enthusiasts grab onto this. But this is something that is beyond earthly life and existence. We are peering into an extradimensional reality here, and frankly we have not a good frame of reference to understand what he saw at this time.

The discs were identical in appearance.

•        These were like flying platforms for these cherub, and when they wanted to move in any of four directions, they did so without turning around... making perfect 90 degree turns.

This would have been really wild for Ezekiel who had only seen birds fly through aerodynamic means, and this broke those principles which we have all seen operate in birds, and in our day by airplanes.

•        They did not turn when they changed directions... they kept their face pointed in the direction that they would go... at 90 degree turns. They have multiple eyes and faces apparently to where they don’t have to turn when they change direction... with 4 wings, as well... these are very odd looking creatures... no wonder the KJV translated it "beasts" in Revelation.

•        They are frightening both in their power and in their alien nature.

Ezekiel 10:12-13 (NAS) " 12 And their whole body, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around, the wheels belonging to all four of them. 13 The wheels were called in my hearing, the whirling wheels."

This is strange... and much has been debated if this is speaking symbolically of their seeing ability, but generally speaking when descriptions like this are given they should be taken literally if possible unless it gives you an interpretation.

•        Their body and backs (from behind... which way is behind?), their wings, and even the wheels were full of eyes all around.

•        One can’t help but wonder if these are eyes literally as you and I have, or if he is describing something that looks like eyes... this is a visual description of a very unknown thing to the man.

He heard the cry given to the wheels within his hearing...

Ezekiel 10:14-15 (NAS) " 14 And each one had four faces. The first face was the face of a cherub, the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. 15 Then the cherubim rose up. They are the living beings that I saw by the river Chebar."

The description gets even more strange... each one of these cherubim had 4 faces. This is similar to the dragon of Revelation having 7 heads, or the Hebrew idea of Leviathan having 7 heads.

This is the same as the description in Revelation by John.

•        1st face was that of a cherub (this is not a very definitive description) in and of itself. John described him as having the face of a calf... and indeed, it is probably some unknown face that resembles a calf.

•        2nd face was that of a man, though the body was not from the previous description.

•        3rd face as a lion... the winged lion, much like the legendary gryphon.

•        4th had a face like an eagle... a giant eagle or majestic bird.

These are the same creatures that Ezekiel saw by the Chebar River in Babylon.

Ezekiel 10:16-17 (NAS) "16 Now when the cherubim moved, the wheels would go beside them; also when the cherubim lifted up their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels would not turn from beside them. 17 When the cherubim stood still, the wheels would stand still; and when they rose up, the wheels would rise with them; for the spirit of the living beings was in them."

The wheels or discs moved with the cherubim... are the wheels platforms like chariots that they are using, or are they something attached to the cherubim?

The cherubim would use their wings to ruse from the ground. The wheels would stay with them.

When the cherubim stood still, the discs would stop and stay with them...

This is interesting, it says that the spirit of the cherubim was within the discs... the life force or perhaps even spirit of these cherubim energized these discs... they were one.
