It lets everyone there know what they did. People have more of a grip on it when they come forward than just repeating a prayer in their seats. It is a more personal environment where I can get close to them and lead them into salvation. Do you think there should be altar calls in the church? It obeys the commandment of praying one for another actually. I could go on about it, but yes... it is a good thing. It shows ones obediance to God. Sometimes I feel the need to go to the alter in prayer, at the alter I can lay my burdens down and leave them there. I know Jesus has paid the price for our sins and at the alter, at the feet of Christ, I feel close to Him. There will come a day unlike any other day, an event unlike any other event and a crisis unlike any other crisis. It will emerge out of nowhere at a time no one expects. It will be an event that no one anticipates—a crisis that experts didn’t foresee. It will be “The End Of The World As We Know It�?….in America. Prepare Spiritually, Mentally and Physically, NOW!

I don't think you have to be at the altar to be saved, or rededicate our life to Jesus, but, we need the prayer support of others, and it also shows that we are not ashamed to let anyone know that we have accepted Christ as our Saviour..... Actually, we are probably saved before we get there, as it is our heart that Jesus reads, and to not be ashamed to go before a crowd and confess him, surely pleases our Master..... They are not mandatory, but, most needed for the lost and saved both..... sooo Those who matter don't judge me. Those who judge me don't matter. --Unknown
