Are We Born Again?
Born again! What does that mean? When Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus He said in John 3:3 "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Then in verse 5 He says "Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
That is God's definition of being born again. Then later in God's word it states in 1st Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
Then in 1st John 3:9 we are told "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." Then in 1st John 5:4 It says "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith." Then in one final verse it says in 1st John 5:18 "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."
So are we born again of God? If so do we continue to slip up and sin? So if we are born of God by believing that Jesus is the Christ. According to His word we should sin not, and yet all that is ever taught is we will sin even if we are born again.
So who is right? God or man! I will believe God! Don Caleb Eilers 09/16/09
