HOLD ON TO THE ROCK
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
Psalm 18:2
King James Version
Never have we needed a rock of security more than we do now. We are living in a world that is filled with violence and chaos. The newspapers and the television and the radio report murders, rapes and other horrible things every day. Without Jesus, our solid rock, we wouldn’t be able to keep going in the midst of all this turmoil and violence.
Pastor Edward Mote wrote a beautiful song “My Hope Is Built”. The words in this song are so true. “On Christ the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand.” Only Jesus can protect us from the violence in this world as we hold on to Him. Thank God for our solid Rock.
We must hold on to Jesus. It is only when we hold on to Him and allow Him to direct our paths and lives that we have real security. Are you trusting Jesus for your security or are you trusting in material things and people for your security? Are you holding on to the solid Rock?
Heavenly Father, we need protection from the violence in this world. Thank You for Jesus, our solid Rock of protection. Father, I pray that we would humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways so that we will have peace on the earth. Please have mercy on us and protect us. Thank You. Amen.
